100+ Fun Party Games for Every Occasion (1)

This collectionof fun party games will give you something for every occasion, for every type of party-goer, and for every type of budget. I’ve tried them all and as a self-proclaimed party games expert, I’ll give you my advice and recommendations on which party games to play when.

And if you’d prefer board games, I’ve got a great guide to the best board games for groups too!

Then the choice is up to you. To play or not to play?

What Kind of Party Games Are There?

I typicallycategorize party games into one of threecategories depending on the level of involvement of your guests. I recommend picking the type of party games you’re going to play based on your guests. If you’re hosting a bridal shower for a bride who doesn’t love games, maybe just pick one or two passive or printable games. If you’re hosting a family reunion full of energetic family members, by all means go with active party games.

  1. Active party games – these are the ones that will require guests to get up and move around, be interactive, and really get involved in the party games. These are what I call “all-in” type games.
  2. PrintableParty Games – these are games you print out beforehand for your guests. Then you can either have them complete the print outs on their own during the party or all together as a group.
  3. Passive Party Games – these aregames and activities that you just have around at the party for guests to do. Things like guess the number of items in a jar, guess the cost of an item, etc. Guests can play or not play, their choice.

I’ve labeledall of the games in this post with the level of activity, my recommended age group, and the amount of preparation needed for the games. Hopefully that’ll help you choose which games work best for your event.
