Homemade Gummy Worms Recipe

2 pkgs. red jello (cherry, raspberry or strawberry)
1 pkg. unflavored gelatin (Don’t forget, because it’s what make them firm!)
2 1/2cups boiling water
1/2 cup ice cubes
3/4 cup whipping cream
15 drops green food coloring

To prepare the mold for your homemade gummy worms, find a tall container and fill it with flexible straws. You can use a large plastic cup like a 32 oz. fast food drink cup or a quart milk carton anything that will hold your straws. Make sure to extend the flexible straws so that they can leave a texture on your worms. Then put a rubber band around the outside of the straws to keep them all together.

Combine both gelatins in boiling water. When the gelatin is dissolved, add ice cubes and stir until melted and cool. Add whipping cream and food coloring.

Pour a small amount of the gelatin mixture into the straws so that about 1 inch of gelatin is covering the bottom. (It will not only be in the straws, but around the straws in the cup. This is OK.) Place in the freezer for 30 minutes. This will make a “seal” on the bottom to keep the rest of your gelatin from running out.

Remove from the freezer and then fill the straws the rest of the way. There will be gelatin filling the container. Refrigerate for 3 hours, until firm.

To remove the worms from the straws, pour hot running water over the outside of the container for a few seconds to loosen the gelatin. Then just squeeze the worms out the end of the straw. Some people say you can run a rolling pin over the worms and they will squeeze out that way also.

Then enjoy your slimy gummy worms!

Lay the pieces of mozzarella diagonally on the French bread (to create the texture of mummy wrapping).
